Adding a Resource/Texture Pack to your Minecraft Java/PC Server

How to add a Resource/Texture pack to your Minecraft Java/PC Server

If you have a particular Resource Pack (previously called Texture Pack) you want to use on your server, you'll first have to download it to your device. If it's on a Resource Pack website, download the .zip to your computer first and remember where you downloaded it.

Resource Pack Requirements:

  • Must be in .zip format
  • For Minecraft 1.5 and newer, it must be in the new Resource Pack format
More information can be found here.
  • Must be hosted somewhere with a direct download capability.
We recommend using Dropbox. Click this link and get 500MB bonus space for free!

Create a Dropbox account. Click this link and get 500MB bonus space for free.

Once you've created your account, login to the web site, then click on the "New Folder" link on the right side:

Create a new folder. I named mine "Resource Packs":

Now you'll see the folder. Double-click on it to navigate to this folder:

Now click on the "Upload Files" link on the right side:

Select the resource pack .zip file that you downloaded to your PC earlier, select the file, and then click on the "Open" button:

Wait for the download to finish:

Once it has finished, there will be a "Share" button available. Click it:

Next, click on the "Create link" link in the bottom-right:

That same "Create link" will now change to "Copy link". Click on it:

The link will be automatically copied to your Clip board. Now in Multicraft, click on "Server Config" from the main status menu:

Scroll down until you find the Resource Pack option. Paste the dropbox link here, change dl=0 to dl=1 at the end of the link, and then click on the Save button:

Now you're ready to test! Just restart the server and connect with your Minecraft client. It should ask you if you want to install the resource pack. Click on the "Yes" button:

Wait a few seconds for the download to complete, then you will join the game and see the new textures:
